How has colonization affected the arts in Native Hawaiian culture? |
The purpose of this research was to learn about the Western art styles that were introduced to Native Hawaiians during the period of colonization in Hawaiʻi, and how these styles made a long lasting impact on local artists in the industry today. Artists throughout Hawaiʻi were surveyed to gain better insight on their creative processes and what art styles influence their work. These surveys would provide if local artists prove to be a result of the changes brought by colonization.
